The Design Major examines the environments of image, object and web design as persuasive forms of intervention and mediation in contemporary society. Emphasis is placed on material culture studies that have a strong impact on design history and theory, the everyday world, and the primacy of the artifact as a reflection of the cultural landscape. Students develop a background in the three streams and then specialize according to their interests and abilities. In both the theoretical and practical considerations of the program, the curriculum integrates creative experimentation in design with social, ecologically-oriented and collaborative productions.

Art History is more than art appreciation; it is a lively, at times controversial, discipline that invites investigation into the roles played by intellectual, cultural, political, social and economic factors in defining the work of art and its reception. Students develop a valuable perspective on their own work and on contemporary visual culture.

The Civil Engineering curriculum consists of Engineering core and program core courses, and technical electives. Program core courses, taken by all Civil Engineering undergraduates, include fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, civil engineering materials, systems analysis, water resources and structures. Technical electives allow students to concentrate on a particular area of interest.
